Aboutthe workshop:
There are 7 sessions and 16 papers for presentation. There are more than 30 people from 6 countries to attend the workshop. This workshop will analyze the impacts of urbanization in Asia, leading to policy options for inclusive and sustainable urbanization in Asia. The workshop will also explore drivers of urbanization. Particular attention will be given to the special features of Asia’s urbanization related to scale, pace, population density, and megacities. Asia’s scale of urbanization is unprecedented. This presents challenges and opportunities for the region and the world. This workshop seeks to offer insight into the mechanics of urbanization in Asia. In particular it will pursue four broad topics:
l Drivers ofurbanization, including infrastructure and human capital
l Impacts ofurbanization on growth, productivity, domestic consumption, and human capitalformation
l How urbanizationrelates to development indicators, including inequality and the environment
l Infrastructurefinancing and other issues related to urbanization
