The conference will feature the release of the eighth annual China Human Capital Report-2017 and parallel academic sessions on December 9, preceded by reception and dinner for all attendees on December 8.

The China Human Capital Report series is based on the research project “China’s Human Capital Measurement” conducted by the CHLR and funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Central University of Finance and Economics. The project aims at establishing China’s first scientific and systematic human capital index, quantitatively describing China’s human capital distribution, trend and dynamics.

We invite submission of papers. Topics dealing with the broad areas of human capital and labor markets are all welcome. To be considered for the Conference, a detailed abstract in English (400-500 words) must be submitted no later than September 30, 2017 to the Conference Maker via the CHLR websites listed below. All papers accepted for presentation must be submitted to the conference by November 30 so that discussants have sufficient time to prepare.

For submission, registration and other updated information, please check the CHLR website:

About the CHLR

Established in March 2008, the China Center for Human Capital and Labor Market Research (CHLR) at the Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) is an international research center for the study of human resources, labor markets, and their impact on economic development, focusing on China and related economies.

All faculty (full-time faculty and visiting faculty) and research fellows hold a Ph.D. degree in economics from major universities in North America and Europe, and some are tenured professors at U.S. universities. Nobel Laureates Kenneth J. Arrow and Professor Dale W. Jorgenson of Harvard University, the founder of the income-based method (the Jorgenson-Fraumeni method) for measuring human capital, serve on the Advisory Board.

The CHLR has master’s, doctoral and post-doctoral programs. The Center’s graduate programs are internationally oriented. The curriculum and instruction are rigorously designed following research universities in North America. All courses are taught in English.
