摘  要:We find that high-speed railway connection in China had led to a reduction in regional income for connected peripheral prefectures relative to non-connected ones overperiod 1999-2013. The reduction of income is driven by significant contraction in fiscal expenditure, fixed assets investment, foreign direct investment and industrial output. Using an instrumental variable strategy based on the construction of least cost path spanning tree networks invented by Faber (2014) to address the non-random route placements on the way between targeted city centers, we find that the results are still there. We present evidence in support of a trade based channel in the light of falling trade costs between peripheral and metropolitan regions.

     

关于主讲人:林发勤,中央财经大学国际经济与贸易学院副教授,国际贸易系主任。获得济贸易大学经济学博士学位和澳大利亚阿德莱德大学经济学博士学位。曾担任亚洲开发银行(总部)理研究员和北京大学光华管理学院《国际经济学》兼职讲师。研究领域为:国际贸易学、发展经济学和应用计量。目前出版专著一部《贸易中的引力模型:理论基础和实证应用》,在 European Economic Review,Journal of Comparative Economics,World Development , Economics Letters 等国际SSCI期刊发表论文20多篇, 国内权威CSSCI期刊《经济研究》,《世界经济》等也发表了多篇学术论文。
