On the afternoon of June 26,
Professor Jeffrey S. Zax from University of Colorado, Boulder had a round-table
discussion with our center members. By talking about daily life, he illustrated
the diversified ways of thinking caused by cultural difference between China and
America in good humor, and inspired us to come up with our own thoughts when
doing academic research. Then a spirited discussion sprang up between Professor
and us on some topics concerned, and everyone benefited a
lot.
The presentation titled “Housing
Allocations, Welfare and Inequality in Early and Mid-reform Urban China” was
given by Jeffrey S. Zax on June 19, which explored the inequality among Chinese
people by probing into the changes of housing allocation for workers from the
early to mid-reform.
