The conference will mark the release of the 12thannual China Human Capital Report-2020. It will feature distinguished keynote speeches and parallel sessions on critical topics related to human capital and labor markets on December 5, preceded by an onsite reception on December 4, if the situation permits. The meeting will be a hybrid of an in-person and a virtual event.
Keynote Speakers
James J. Heckman is the Henry Schultz Distinguished Service Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago, a Nobel Memorial Prize winner in economics, and leading scholar on economics of human development. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the Econometric Society, the Society of Labor Economics and the American Statistical Association, and a fellow of the American Academy of Art and Sciences.
Ludger Woessmann is Director of the IFO Center for the Economics of Education and Professor of Economics at the University of Munich. He is also the Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University. He is a Fellow of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, the Academic Advisory Council of the German Federal Ministry of Economics, and the International Academy of Education.
Specially-Invited Discussants for China Human Capital Report-2020
Yongmiao Hong is the Ernest S. Liu Professor of Economics and International Studies in Department of Economics at Cornell University. He is also Professor of Statistics and a field member in Department of Statistics and Data Science and a field member in Center of Applied Mathematics at Cornell University. He was President of Chinese Economists Society in North America in 2009-2010.
Jong-Wha Lee is a professor of economics at Korea University. He served as a senior adviser for international economic affairs to former President of South Korea. He was also previously Chief Economist and Head of the Office of Regional Economic Integration at the Asian Development Bank and an economist at the International Monetary Fund.
Submissions
We invite submission of individual papers. Topics dealing with broad areas of human capital and labor markets are all welcome.
· Submit abstract (400-500 wordsin English) no later than November 15, 2020 online at:
http://editorialexpress.com/conference/2020CHLR/
· The decision for acceptance will be announced by November 20.
· Each session consists of papers, discussants and Q&A live.
· We plan for the conference to run synchronously (with a live feed) between 8:00am and 7:00pm in Beijing on Saturday December 5th. The time slot for each presentation will be set reasonably according to the local time zone of the presenter.
· All papers accepte for presentation must be sent directly to discussants by November 27 so that discussants will have enough time to review and prepare comments. The assignment of discussants and contact information will be sent to all participants soon.
China Economic Review Special Issue
· All submissions accepted for presentation will be eligible for submission to a Special Issue ofChina Economic Review.
